A prayer of faith

Help me be giving and forgiving,

to be less selfish and more kind.

To think less of earthly treasures,

to shake off the chains that bind.

Though we were prisoners of sin

headed for suffering without end,

You gave us your life willingly

You called us forgiven and friend.

Your death and blood healed us,

through your sacrifice came life.

We were lonely, aimless, and wandering,

bound by grief and shackled with strife.

The grave you once occupied

had no power to contain you.

Death and sting were conquered,

through your sacrifice we are made new.

There are those that doubt your gift,

they call us foolish for what we believe.

They think their ways are loftier,

their denial makes you grieve.

You created all in your image

and knew us before we were born.

You know every hair on our head,

You love all even those that scorn.

I have seen your goodness and grace;

prayers answered even through doubt.

My story is like so many others,

Your holy spirit I can’t live without.

I pray for those who don’t believe,

for those living for earthly gain,

for those who refuse to acknowledge you,

I pray no doubt in them will remain.

Eternal life is sure for each of us,

but we must choose which one we desire.

We can live in peace and harmony with you,

or in endless suffering, darkness, and fire.

Those who say they’ll be in good company,

that their friends will also be in hell,

are ignorant of what it really means,

they will know suffering they cannot quell.

I thank you for the gift of eternal life,

the gift we don’t have to earn.

You gave everything to pay for our sin,

the profoundness of it is hard to discern.

Though I am not perfect, and a sinner,

I am filled with your holy grace.

I thank you for each of my blessings,

I won’t stop ’til I see your face.

This is beautifully written and so true. I too pray for all of the unbelievers and the people caught up in sin, wealth and evil for I don’t want anyone to burn in hell for eternity.
