About

The encouraged woman is an ever-evolving blog that began as an experiment in self-reflection and, quite frankly, out of boredom and angst. When I began this blog, I wasn’t in a good place. Life had thrown me quite a few curve balls and I was trying to reinvent myself, or maybe just find myself. Like all periods of unrest, I soon found myself in a better place and the content evolved from interviews to short stories of part-fiction to various other writings that fancied me at the time.  I often find inspiration in nature, but it could be a simple statement that sticks with me and begins to unfold into a poem, story, or reflection. Time spent with my sisters has also resulted in some of my posts; they are such a blessing in my life, and I rely on them often to ground me. My faith, however, is what drives much of my content and my hope is that readers will be inspired by my posts.

We are sojourners in this life. One of my dear friends turned me on to this term. A sojourner, by one definition, is “a temporary resident”, a type of occupant. Isn’t this what we all are here, a temporary occupant of Earth? While we are here, it makes sense to lift each other up, learn from one another, and find a way to lighten each other’s loads and celebrate our victories.
