Born into poverty without a crib or a bed,
born to a woman who was almost unwed.
He left all the glory and beauty behind,
to come to the world and save all mankind.
As he grew, his acquaintances started to see
he was somebody special, there was no one like he.
His mother was aware, but even she couldn’t know
what was soon to transpire, the depth of her sorrow.
He gathered a group, to follow his way,
to join him in helping the sinful and strayed.
This group was peculiar, not polished or pristine.
No one that is likely to hang out with a King.
Yet he taught them to trust in who he said he was.
He wanted to teach them to take on his cause.
Soon he’d be gone, and they couldn’t perceive
how he came from heaven and yet he would leave.
They saw his miracles and witnessed his power.
He healed the sick, withered a tree, and made evil cower.
His authority unmatched and his heart was so pure.
They would be loyal forever, of this, they were sure.
He didn’t sleep, praying as his sweat turned to blood.
He warned them to watch, but they never understood.
Now the time was upon him, his betrayer did the deed
of kissing his cheek, an act born of greed.
The inevitable came, his followers were tested.
The man they had loved, had just been arrested.
They feared for their life so each of them fled.
Still, the penalty for sin, he would take on instead.
His trial a mockery, fabricated with lies.
His accusers hated him; their stature was compromised.
They refused to see that their king had arrived.
To save their ego, their plan was connived.
His sentence was given, a flogging would ensue,
he’d be beaten and tortured by a hateful crew.
They spit in his face and struck him with glee,
they crowned him with thorns and made him a mockery.
Unrecognizable as a man was he.
Undeniable as a King he will soon be.
When he comes again to meet his bride,
to conquer sin and stomp on pride.
Thank you, Father, for saving us all,
Your plan was in place before the Fall.
The pain of his death is not the end,
for the glory of his rising is the final Amen.

Thank you Jesus for your ultimate sacrifice to take our sins away so that we are saved 🙏
